Karen Owen

November 17, 1941 — April 4, 2025

Springville, UT – Karen Facer Owen age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Provo, UT, on April 4, 2025.

Karen was born November 17, 1941 in Brigham City, UT, (lived in Willard), parents George & Ila Facer. She was born the youngest of 9 kids. Four brothers, and four sisters. She married Fred M. Owen February 25th, 1960 in Willard, UT later sealed in Logan Temple March 17 1961 for time and all eternity.

Our Mom enjoyed life, loved being a homemaker, supported her husband and children, and taught her children to be good Christians by being kind to others. Our Mom did work for a period of time, working at Brown floral enjoying arranging beautiful flower arrangements and helping people. She also worked as an orthodontist assistant, where she really could help people by comforting them, becoming their friend, loving them as they’d often visit throughout their treatment plan. She made so many new friends that continued well beyond her work.

Mom enjoyed the outdoors, specifically time boating at Lake Powell among many other lakes. Spending time on SumRfun and her waverunner were some of her fondest memories with her kids, and often friends who came along for the adventure. She found her peace and happy place each waverunner ride. Mom made sure our Lake Powell trips were memorable with matching shirts, playing games into the night, sleeping under the stars, and most of all handing out family awards. Each time had a special meaning in her heart as we explored, played and spent time together as family. Mom and Dad traveled many places together or with family, making sure to learn, appreciate, and respect the many cultures she visited throughout the world.

Mom also enjoyed bowling, joined a bowling league where she met new friends, and helped lead the team to many wins by being the high scorer for her team. She loved sports and spent a portion of her teenage years playing softball and received an offer to play on the Utah Women's professional Softball team.

Mom was a faithful member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held many callings throughout the years, where she loved ministering to others, and served a mission with her husband Fred in Harrisburg, PA. Mom served in the temple for 17 years as ordinance worker in the Provo and Provo City Center Temples. She loved all those days and made many friends that really helped her want to continue to serve in the Temple.

Family meant everything to Mom. She ministered to family spiritually, and temporally throughout her life. Great memories of family gatherings whether it be on Sunday or other planned trips to visit Family always brought great joy to Mom knowing she could mend a heart, heal a soul, cook a meal, or simply be together as family in her home or elsewhere. Mom always made sure her home was the place to come relax, have fun, enjoy time together, with delicious meals, and a chocolate bundt cake. Yum!

Mom was preceded in death by her loving parents, George Willams Facer and Ila Pettingill Facer, along with four Brothers (Wayne Facer -WWII veteran, Max Facer – WWII veteran, Reece Facer, Harvey Facer – Korean War veteran), and three Sisters (Jesse Jepperson, June Wixom, Norma Wiese). A surviving sister, Donna Boothe, who resides in Merced, CA.

Though our Mom is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be remembered and cherished forever. If you can simply minister as she did, that is all she would ever ask.

She is survived by her husband Fred M. Owen, and four children, Kevin (Karron) Owen, Lori (Scott) Fuhriman, Shawn (Paula) Owen, and Kyle (Amy) Owen. She has 18 Grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Homes, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. A second viewing will be held the day of the service from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the LDS Chapel located at 1965 East, Canyon Road, Springville, Utah. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the same location following the viewing on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Karen Gay Roper

June 25, 1942 – December 23, 2021

Karen Gay Hess Roper 06/25/1942 – 12/23/2021

Karen, age 79, passed away Wednesday December 23, 2021 at home, of complications due to dementia. She was born on June 25, 1942 to LeRoi, (Dutch) Hess and Sadie Zina Jepperson Hess. She was the eldest of two children. Karen was born in Brigham City Utah and lived there until the age of 13, then moved with her mother and brother to Salt Lake City due to the death of her father. She graduated from East High School, and later trained as an accountant. She was an accounts payable manager for several firms in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. Later became General Manager and part owner of a small electronic business, who manufactured computerize fluid control monitors for inventory control for oil and lube stations. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, and her Brother Richard, and her step father Elliott Merrell. She is survived by her Husband, Eugene, Four Children, David, (Cindy), Todd, Scott, (Susan), Melinda Michelsen, (Douglas), one step brother, Bruce Merrell, (Lynn), and two step sisters, Carolyn Summerhays, (Bruce), and Marcia Eyer, (Don). Eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Karen is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served various callings, she also served 5 years in the Jordan River Temple. Karen’s wishes for her service is graveside. At 1:30PM on Thursday Dec 30th there will be a 1 hour viewing at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive prior to her service. Following the viewing the graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday Dec 30th in the Sandy City Cemetery on 700 East 9000 South. Eldon Povatah

Eldon Povatah was born as the son of Donald Maho Povatah and Polly Sacavenka Shupla. He died on 12 January 2024, in Polacca, Apache, Arizona, United States.

 

Gordon DeVern Rasmussen peacefully departed this world on Monday, October 23, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas, after a prolonged battle with illness. He was born to DeVern James and Ila LaJune Chlarson Rasmussen and was the oldest of two siblings.

Gordon's formative years were spent in Honeyville, Utah, where he graduated from Box Elder High School. He will be forever remembered for his deep passion for trucks, cars, and his family. From a young age, he exhibited an unwavering fascination with trucks, a love that eventually evolved into a successful career. His exceptional driving skills were well-known, earning him recognition for safely covering over one million miles without a single accident. He lent his talents to various esteemed companies, including Parsons, Chlarson Brothers, Miller & Sons, Clawson Brothers, Consolidated Freight, Cal Western, and Ruan. Tragically, while transporting milk for Cal Western, he inadvertently ingested chemicals used for cleaning milk equipment, which left a permanent mark on his lungs, affecting his breathing for the remainder of his life.

Gordon also held an appreciation for automobiles, amassing a remarkable collection throughout his lifetime. It all began with a 1951 bronze metallic Ford two-door hardtop. He was an avid fan of NASCAR races, and a cherished highlight was the opportunity to drive on the actual NASCAR track in Las Vegas three different times.

More than his passion for trucks and cars, Gordon was known for his warm, friendly, and outgoing personality. He approached people with kindness and refrained from passing judgment on others. His greatest joy came from being in the company of his children and grandchildren, taking immense pride in their accomplishments.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served a mission in Denmark as a young man.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Cora Lee Higginson Rasmussen, oldest sister, Sharon Coleman and third wife Ellen Stoddard Rasmussen. He is survived by his long-life friend and wife Jeanette Jensen; children, Scott Rasmussen and Trudi (Michael) Jensen, as well as two remaining siblings, Brent (Jane) Rasmussen and Zan (Jim) Nix Rasmussen and others who knew him as Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. His memory will forever shine in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 25th at the Honeyville Church in Honeyville, Utah from 11am to 1pm. All friends and family are invited.
