  Memorial services will be Saturday for Stephen Artiss Stephens who died last Saturday at a local hospital.  He was 40.

  A native of Glendale, Mr. Stephens had been an Eagle Scout as a young man.

  He graduated from San Jose State University where he received a bachelor of arts degree and did graduate studies.

  A professional studio potter, he was a pioneer in the hot tub business in the Santa Cruz area and worked for Memorex for many years.

  He had lived in Santa Cruz County for the past eight years.

  He is survived by his wife, Toni Stephens of Soquel; daughter, Patia Grace Stephens of Soquel; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Acey Stephens of French Gulch, Calif.

  Memorial services will be Saturday at Unity Temply of Sant Cruz, 407 Broadway at 2:30 p.m.  The Rev. Hypatia Hasbrouck will officiate.

  Norman’s Family Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

  There will be a private cremation with ashes to be scattered at sea.

  Contributions to the Walden Foundation, Route 1, Box 29A, Thompson Falls, Mont., 59873 are preferred.
